Frida’s Studio
Casa Azul, Frida’s house in CDMX is so beautiful. I loved her studio especially. Wouldn’t I love to have one like that!

Actually, most of these are of Barcelona. We went with my folks back in April. We came across this violinist playing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in a courtyard by the cathedral. He was great!

We took one of those tourist buses around Barcelona and got off here. There was a beautiful view from that hill.
Holy water bucket at La Sagrada Familia. I love that it was a giant clamshell (faisua).

Porter’s Pavillion at Park Güell

This rooftop was pretty irresistible.
We LOVED Casa Battló!

…then Mitch and I went to Granada
This was while we waited for our ticket time at the Alhambra

Fantastic Jazz by Lorca Hart, Josh Nelson and Sam Bevan at the Howlings on November 15. It’s so great to sit right up front to see and hear the guys play. I didn’t get a decent sketch of Josh on Piano because he was moving too fast!
Cheers to Kelly and David for hosting such a swingin’ event. Thank you! Great company and hot food and music.

It was a special pleasure having my mom and dad there. I’d thought on other occasions how wonderful it would be to share this type of music in an intimate setting with them. Also great to have our friends Judy and Lee there.
Now my folks want to host a party like that in Ukiah. Okay Lee, get ready…I’m guessing they’re going to recruit you 🙂
We spent a week at the beautiful Salmon Lake Lodge in the Lakes Basin area of Northern California. The lake is about an hour north of Lake Tahoe. It was a hiker’s paradise and a beautiful place to CHILL OUT for vacation.

We hiked to several lakes, one more stunning than the last, and with Mitch on the trip, the only option was to jump in at least once a day. The water was cool and refreshing–quite the treat when it got hot, which it did most days.
Our friends Joan and Adam made the rezzie at this place, where they have been going for the last four years. Stayed in a tent cabin–canvas roof, cook top, small fridge, electric lights (and outlets), picnic tables in and out, outside bbq grill, full size mattress, bunk beds, and a stove with all the wood you can burn. An idyllic week with highlights of playing music.
It rained every day when we were in Hawaii last January and February. We still made sure to get in the water EVERY DAY.

Loved this view of the neighbor’s home and yard (with the Pali in the background). They had about seven well fed and happy cats (not shown here).
Waimanalo…I am coming back again (don’t know when but) I am coming back again.

Enjoyed the Marin County Fair today. Lots of rides, art, food, booths selling junk, fruits, veggies, animals, bonzai trees, ikebana arrangements, Star Wars Storm Troopers, Princess Leia, and R2D2, open mike singers, and Mickey Thomas Starship (not to be confused with the Jefferson Starship).
They had a pig race, which was pretty weird. I was compelled to draw this artichoke flower, which won some kind of prize.
There were lots of roosters and chickens and bunny rabbits as well. The roosters have some amazing colors and patterns.
The Polish rooster looked kind of like a cocky Rod Stewart with long black and white feathers.
Another rooster had white feathers with black edging which almost looked like someone had drawn them on with a black ink pen.
The paddock with llamas had a little placard which asserted that they are gentle, intelligent creatures but I have different experience with llamas.
When we went to the Turtle Back Zoo as kids, we used to feed the them RY-Krisp crackers. Once when we ran out of crackers, the llama spat at my mother which, of course, pissed off my mom and forever rendered the llamas an unpopular breed to our family.
